Sung in the Eisteddfod as early as 1883 (it had won the song prize there three years previously) and with words are by Tudno, and were published later under a different title - Fy mrawd (a fu farw ar ei fordaith i'r Amerig), or My brother (who died on his voyage to the Americas). This is a set piece of the 2017 Eisteddfod in Bodedern.
